After a 10-day journey KM MUS comes to a halt on the open sea.
On 6 April 2024, at around 9am Eastern Indonesia Time, the RZ 03 and 05 vessels approach KM MUS.
The two vessels had previously employed crew members that had left from Mayangan, Probolinggo.
A few of those from Mayangan were forced to resign. The rest were still on board the ships.
New recruits on KM MUS were divided into two groups to work on RZ 03 and RZ 05.
They were immediately asked to move the catch from RZ 03 and RZ 05 to KM MUS.
Nobody knows exactly how many tons of fish they moved. However,
even after working for 11 hours a day for three days, the transfer was still not complete. The crew members are exhausted.
So on the fourth day of moving the catch, they decided to go on strike. The crew members also objected to the lack of clarity regarding their salary and holiday bonuses.
The strike drew a response from Gunawan Winarso, who is suspected to be the owner of the ship
Gunawan's threat did not dissuade some of the crew members. Six of them chose to escape by jumping into the sea
Five of them were rescued by a purse seine fishing vessel.
The remaining crew member was found dead, his body headless
